Grapefruit Softball (Grades 2-3)

Grapefruit Softball is an instructional program for girls in grades 2 and 3.  No previous experience with softball or baseball is necessary. Our softball program was developed as a progressive program to transition from Rookie softball through a collaboration of Wayland Little League and Frozen Ropes, Metrowest’s preeminent organization specializing in youth softball and baseball skill development.

Our mission is to introduce Wayland girls to softball in a fun and engaging program while focusing on a progression of skill development.

Grapefruit Softball will combine fast paced and fun drills using varied stations. Drills will be lead by professional Frozen Ropes instructors with assistance from parent coaches and volunteers.   For the first half of the season, in addition to the drills, we will play controlled scrimmages to allow the girls to apply these skills in a game situation.  For the second half of the season we begin the transition into competitive softball by having full instructional softball games both in Wayland and finishing with a tournament style weekend against teams in Weston and Wellesley

We coordinate our practice day to not conflict with 3rd grade soccer.

There may also be a tournament in June which will require travel to very nearby Weston or Wellesley softball field.
